The “Walking in the Forest” scenario educates players about different forest ecosystems, human activities that can occur in forests, and the potential threats and risks to these environments.
The educational contents that are included in this scenario are:
– Characterizing of species of different forest ecosystems (animals and plants),
– Characterizing of ecosystem services provided by forests,
– The importance of the forest for human activities and human-forest dynamics,
– The activities that can be developed in the forest,
– Threats and risks to the forest,
– New approaches and innovations.

These educational contents allow players to, among others:
– Understand the importance of biodiversity and the risks that threaten it
– Understand the importance of ecosystem benefits
– Understand the relationship between biotic and abiotic systems in an ecosystem
– Understanding the importance of trees for: food security, water production, securing slopes, reproduction of other animals, the carbon cycle, water cycle, securing biodiversity, human health and climate
– Identify economic and social activities linked to the forest
– Identify the major current threats to the forest
– Understand the attitudes and behaviors appropriate to the interaction of humans with the forest
In the scenario, the players have the chance to interact with quizzes and mini games, as well as receive information and advice. First, they play an interactive game called “River Wildlife Challenge”, where they have to guess the name of the animal based on the given clues. They can also see the positive and negative examples of human interaction with the forest, and learn fun facts about plants, like the ones in the forest that have medicinal properties.
